Senior High Acquaintance Party
Senior
High kicked us off with a fun Acquaintance Party at the ACT grounds on the 24th
of June. It was attended by all the Grade
11 and Grade 12 students, the Senior High faculty and the school staff. Hon.
Rodrigo A. Abellanosa was also in attendance.
The purpose of this party was to get the senior high students to
socialize with each other, not only with their classmates, but also with
students in higher levels. It also made us form a bond with our classmates
during the activities like the yell competition and the salo-salo that followed
after.
The
event started with a flag ceremony and an invocation led by Grade 12 student Shaneika
Esgana. After that, the Senior High’s SSG (Supreme Student Government) officers
followed by the Senior High Faculty members showed off their talents through a
lively dance number. The SSG officers
led by former Grade 10 SSG President Juvanil Alvarado then took an oath to seal
their positions in the party. But it wasn’t only the SSG officers and faculty
members that showed off their talents, several students also performed
in-between activities and showcased their talents whether it’d be singing, dancing,
or even incredible feats like magic that was performed by Grade 11 Liberty’s
Joshua Timogtimog who gave an outstanding performance that floored spectators
and got them talking to the person beside them asking them how in the world was
the trick done. After the performances,
the yell competition followed. All 40 sections in the Senior High department
performed their section’s “yell” while being monitored by judges who were
trying to pick the section with the best yell performance. Some sections even used
a cajon box (or a beatbox as it is called here in the Philippines) to hype up
their performance a bit more. But that wasn’t the only competition that
occurred during the party; handpicked students from different strands danced to
the school’s alma mater “Fly High” choreographed by their teachers. With the
music blaring out the school’s bass boosted speakers, the theme was played a
couple of times until we were bored and absolutely done by it. There was even a
grand finale that was joined by everyone attending the party while repeating
the same song a couple more times again.
While
the night was coming to an end, students were invited to a disco at the
quadrangle while the others with their empty stomachs went upstairs to have
dinner with their classmates in their respective sections. We really got together by just eating with
each other. There were laughs, gags, and
a class picture with our adviser Mr. Jebbrys Largo. The event brought us all
closer to each other and not only made me call my classmates as friends, but
also as another family. A word that once belonged to my classmates back in my
Junior High School days. It was indeed a
moment we will never remember, and a night we will never forget
